Good Morning,
Hope you all are having a great weekend and celebrating Father's Day with your loved ones. Today I have a Suitcase Mini Album I created using the June Scrapbook Club Kit from Tres Jolie along with the Card Making Kit. I do have a video walkthrough of the Vintage Man Suitcase Mini Album along with a tutorial on how to create the base mini album. I will have the second part of the tutorial up soon.
Here is a photo of the mini album and a few of the pages.
I just love how this Suitcase Mini Album turned out using the Vintage Man Collection by 3 Quarter Designs. This paper is just beautiful.
Now on to how to put together the mini album, you do have the video tutorial portion above for you to also view and follow along at your convenience.
To create our pages I used the Tres Jolie Cards from the Card Making Kit, they measure 8 1/4 x 11 5/8 inches, scored in the middle and fold. You will cut a bit off of the opened end side so the card will measure 5 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches.
Once you are done trimming the edge of the card, you need to score 1/2 inch on the right and left side of the card with the 8 1/4 inch along the top of your scoreboard.
After scoring you are going to bevel in the edges, it looks like the little triangle on see picture.
(You will cut at an angle to the score line to make a triangle.)
After you cut that little triangle you will Only cut the 1/2 inch flap off the bottom piece of your page. (See photo below)
This is how your page should look this far.
Now place your adhesive on the right and left 1/2 inch flap and fold the top piece of your page on top
of the 1/2 inch flap.
This is how your page should look when finished.
Now to start on the hinge for the mini album. You will need and 8 1/2 x 11 inch cardstock and your scoreboard. You will score at 1 1/2, 2 1/8, 2 5/8, 3 1/8, 3 3/4, 4 1/4, 4 3/4, 5 3/8, 5 7/8, 6 3/8, 7, 7 1/2, 8, 8 5/8. Once you are done you will mark where your hinges will be your first hinge being at the 2 5/8; 2nd hinge 4 1/4; 3rd hinge5 7/8; 4th hinge 7 1/2 inch. Your hinge should look like this so far.
Now where each number is fold back on the score line, this will create your hinge. Do this for
all four numbers.
Once your are done the hinge should look this.
Now flip over your hinge, and you will see valleys, these are you hinges and
where you will place your adhesive.
Place adhesive in the valley and push together to adhere them and burnish down.
Do this for all four hinges (valleys).
Once finished this is what the back should look like
Once finished turn over and burnish all four hinges. Flip the hinges to the left to burnish
and turn to the right to burnish them. Flipping the hinges back and forth helps them
to become more pliable.
Next we are gonna add adhesive to the back of the hinge and and fold the flaps inward.
Hinge is now completed.
Now to create the Base Mini Album
Chipboard -
2 pieces - 6 x 7 1/2
3 pieces - 3 1/2 x 7 1/2
Card Stock Pieces -
1 - 5 1/2 x 11 place adhesive on the edges of the left and right side of the 5 1/2
1 - 4 1/2 x 11 place tape on the right side edge on the back of the 4 1/2 inch
2 - 8 1/2 x 11 (1) piece have tape on the left and right of the 8 1/2 inch edge on each side.
(1) no tape on the other 81/2 x 11 inch piece
Adhere the card stock pieces together (see photo below)
Next add and adhere on the chipboard pieces from left to right and leaving a 1/4 inch space
between each chipboard piece. Leave a 1 inch edge on the left hand side of your chipboard
piece, also leaving at least a 1 1/2 inch from the top and bottom. (you may have a little more
than a 1 1/2 inch on top that's okay)
1st - 6 x 7 1/2; 2nd - 3 1/2 x 7 1/2; 3rd - 6 x 7 1/2; 4th & 5th pieces will be 3 1/2 x 7 1/2.
Next we are gonna take out bone folder folding in all the side around the chipboard pieces.
Once your are done folding in the side you will see on each corner a little square we are going
to cut that off on all four corners. Cut at slight slant towards the corners of where the creases meet.
Mini Album base should look like this.
Next we are adding adhesive to all flaps and folding them inward on top of the chipboard pieces.
Be sure to burnish all flaps down
After burnishing all the flaps down now you will go in between each of the chipboard pieces
and crease with your bone folder. While setting the crease lift the chipboard up gently while creasing.
Now we are all done and your mini album should fold in as seen below.
This is the end of Part 1 for the Suitcase Mini Album. Thank you so much for joining me. I have all the links below for you to check out Tres Jolie Scrapbook Club Kit and the Card Making Kit.
