Simple Vintage Purse with Mini Photo Booklets

Hi everyone, Today I'm sharing a cute Purse I created to hold some 4x4 photo-booklets. I really like how this turned out. This little project can be created to hold special memories for those special occasions birthdays, weddings, anniversary's retirement party and so on.

To create this Vintage Purse and the mini photo booklets I used the July 2023 Scrapbooking kit filled with new papers from Simple Stories with Simple Vintage Essentials Captured Bits & Ephemera pieces, including the Typeset Rub-ons. The Scrapbooking kit also comes with Tres Jolie clock & film strip chipboard plus beautiful flowers from Little Birdie. I have all the links below for the items I used.

Here is a video tutorial for you to view that contains all the details on I created this Vintage Purse with Mini Photo Booklets. https://youtu.be/JtkPOg-zPIQ

Here are a few photos that share I created this beautiful Simple Vintage Purse. To start off I did use a metal die purse and cut out all my pieces including the pattern paper pieces and adhered everything together.  If you do not have this die you can create a box or use a cutting machine to create a purse.

Here are all the pieces that were cut out from the die.

Next I adhered everything together and here is the finished purse

Now we just need to add our handles and decorate the front. I did use a small broach I had in stash that is adhered to the front flap. I used the pretty flowers that came in the scrapbook kit on the front of the purse. I added one of the sentiments from the captured bits package - Lovely, along with some of the hearts popped up with foam tape.

Next we're gonna create our photo booklets.

You will create 6 of these mini photo booklets using which ever cardstock you'd like. I am using black. You are going to cut your cardstock at 4x8 3/4 inches. Next lay your cardstock lengthwise in your scoreboard with the 8 3/4 inches across the top and score at 4 1/4 and 4 1/2 inches. I have a photo here showing the length of the cardstock on the left and in my hand I have the little booklet once its been scored.

Next I cut 24 pieces of the pattern paper measuring at 3 7/8 x 4 1/8 inches. In the video I share some tips and tricks on decorating these little booklets in case you would like a bit more details.

Now I am going to share step by step instructions on how I decorated a few of these photo booklets.

From the paper collection there is a ruler pattern paper I used this to create a pocket. I really like creating pockets this way with lined pattern paper.

Turn the pattern paper over and place double back tape around the edges of the square.

Next turn the square back over to the front. Leaving about a 1/4 inch space from the left & right edges use your x-acto knife to follow the line down to other end.

Now you have created a simple pocket.

Next place glue or adhesive on the back top of the pocket as shown below.

Now you can adhere the square down to the base photo booklet.

You can add a little tag or other ephemera inside.

Here is a photo of the finished pocket decorated

For the inside. I just added a little tuck spot with one of the captured pieces from the package in the kit, it says "my favorite". I added some foam tape to the back for a raised look.

On the back I added another piece from the Captured Bit pieces that says, "You & Me. I a little bit of glue behind the left and right ends, I didn't add glue to the middle so that way a photo could slide up underneath it. I added a some foam tape to the back of the heart.

So for the next photo booklet I wanted to share I put the inside of this one together using the chipboard film strip and the little square pieces.  First I placed my pattern paper down then I cut off two of squares at the end of the chipboard filmstrip, so you should have three squares.

Next I added some foam strips to each side of the film strip and adhered down.

Once I adhered the filmstrip on I used the little squares from the filmstrip as an embellishment and added words on top (word stickers from my stash).

I finished it off with some of the Captured Bits from the scrapbook kit.

Here is a photo of the Photo Booklets completed using some of the flowers from the kit including the ephemera pieces and Captured Bits. You can check out the video for more details on how I put all the booklets together or you can put your own twist on your booklets.

I hope you enjoyed this project and have a chance to create one. I think its a great little memory keeper for special those special photos that you can display on your mantel or on shelf someplace. It definitely makes a great gift.

Thanks for joining me and have a great day.
