DIY Easy Notepads for Tres Jolie Kit Club

 Hi everyone, 

Are you looking for a quick project? Well look no farther I share a quick way to create these beautiful notepads by using up your paper scraps. In today's step by step tutorial, I'm showing you how to create these adorable DIY Pocket Notepads! Whether you want to tuck them into a junk journal, use them as travel notes or give them as handmade gifts, these 'Simplicity' themed notepads are as functional as they are pretty. In the step-by-step tutorial below I will walk you through the process of constructing the fold-over notepad base with built-in flap and simple assembly techniques for the inner lined paper. 

2026 March Scrapbook Kit

Notepad #1

Cut 1 piece of cardstock @ 5 1/2 x 11; Score 1 inch, 4 3/4 inch on the 5 1/2 inch across the top of the scoreboard; turn to the 11 inch across the scoreboard, score @ 1, 1 1/8, 1 1/4 inches, score @ 7 3/4, 7 7/8, 8 inches

Chipboard piece cut at 3 3/4 x 6 1/2 inches

Cut 2 pieces of cardstock at 3 5/8 x 6 1/2 inches

Lined notebook paper - 3 1/4 x 6 inches

After you score, cut the two end corner on the right and left side near the one inch flap. Then at the bottom cut the left and right side corners and you will have a long flap.

Next cut a chipboard piece at 3 3/4 x 6 1/2 inches. Adhere the chipboard piece in the middle and adhere the two long side flaps. 

Cover the chipboard using one of the 3 5/8 x 6 1/2 inch pieces.

Use the second 3 5/8 x 6 1/2 inch piece, adhere to the bottom long flap.

For the notepad, use the lined notebook paper, place the sheet all together and clip them, as shown below. Then use adhesive glue to the top of the sheets. Let dry for a bit, then add another coat on top let dry. While the lined paper is drying, cover the outside and inside of the notepad base.

Then you can add the papers to the inside of the paper pad base along the top of the score-line. (see video tutorial for more details) Clip these together to let dry.

Notepad #2

To start the 2nd notepad, cut the lined notebook paper at 3 1/4 x 4 1/2 inches. Before you clip the papers together place some glue along the top, clip and let dry. Then place a second coat, and let dry again.

Then cut or use a scrap pattern paper that measures 4 1/2 x 12 inches; 

Score at 3 , 3 1/4 inches and Score at 6 5/8, 6 7/8 inches. This notepad is going to close inward. You will need some magnets or you can use velcro for your closure. 

Add double back tape to the center of the score lines on the left side of the base cover. Then once the papers are dry, unclip and remove the backing from the double back tape. Place the papers inside against the taped area and burnish. (for more details view Video Tutorial)

Now the flap on the left side may be a little long so fold in the over hand inside to create a little pocket. Placing glue on the top and bottom of the fold, fold inward.

Here is the finished notepad. This one is my favorite as it's super easy to create just by using the long scraps from your stash. (for more details view Video Tutorial)

Notepad #3

For the last notepad I used a notepad that had adhesive on the top of it but needed a sturdy back. So I cut piece of chipboard and used double back tape that I placed along the top edge with a bit of over hang to adhere the chipboard to it. 

Once the chipboard is adhered I cut a piece of pattern paper from the March Scrapbook Kit and folded it over the top, and it is adhered to the top edge. (for more details view Video Tutorial)

Next you can now cover the back. 

This one is now done. I did decorate the front with some of the metal hearts from the 2026 February Mixed Media Kit. This photo shows the front cover and inside of the finished notepad.

Tres Jolie - Vintage Journal - Be Yourself

 Hi Crafty Friends, 

Today I wanted to share a really nice tiny journal you an create using the December Card, Tag and More Kit by Tres Jolie. I love how this turned out. It's definitely got some spaces for journaling, adding small photos and other memorabilia. I hope you enjoy today's tutorial below I have a step by step for you to start the tiny journal but I have more details with my video tutorial. 

December Card, Tag and More Kit

To start off I used the tiny journal from the April Card Kit. I inked all outside and inked the edges of all the pages using vintage photo ink. 

Next I tore my pattern paper into strips and distressed the edges and inked them. Then adhered them on. I thought this was a unique way to add some creativity to the outside cove to our journal. 

I both the front and back of the journal like this. 

Next I cut all my pattern papers at 4x4 inches there are 14 pieces in all and ink the edges. 

Next I started adding the Stamperia chipboard pieces onto the pages. Please view the video tutorial for more details in how I decorated each page. 

With this bookcases piece I added foam tape to the back so it actually becomes a pocket. 

Here is the finished Vintage Journal. Down below I have photos of how I decorated each page. And don't forget the video tutorial has more details. 

The booklet that is in the chipboard pocket is created with a 8 x 3 1/2 inch pattern paper and has lined paper inside that is sewn together. I adhered the lace for a closure. 

This booklet measures 7 x 3 1/2 inches has the lace adhered for a closure and I painted the metal leaf with bronze stain and added the white flower with leaves from the December Scrapbook Kit,  I also added one of the embossed stickers that comes in the kit. I attached this booklet to the page and inside it has a sticky note pad. 

This pocket is created using the post card paper and I cut a straight line across leaving a 1/4 inch on each side. Decorated with a gold embossed leaf from the project before, a chipboard lock piece and the embossed stickers from the kit. 

This pocket is a torn on the edge and inked. It measures 5 x 3 inches and scored 1/2 inch on the right and left side of the 5 inch side and 1/2 inch down the 3 inch side, fold under and adhere the flaps down to the page to create a pocket. 

I hope you received some inspiration from this Vintage Journal. I like that it has lots of areas for journaling and you can add in more flaps or extras if you'd like. You can journal, keep memorabilia inside and display photos inside as well.

Life is Beautiful Junk Journal for Tres Jolie

 Hi everyone,

I'm back with a new project for Tres Jolie using the January 2024 Cardmaking Kit.  I hope you all had a great holiday season with your family and friends. 

Today I am sharing with you a beautiful Junk Journal I created using this Cardmaking Kit.  This journal has tons of great techniques and ideas on how to decorate and use this Cardmaking Kit to the fullest. I am so happy with the way it turned out. I hope you all like it too. 

This junk journal comes together really easy and as I said we use everything within the kit, except for the butterflies we will use them on another project. Let get started with this step by step tutorial below. 

Here are the supplies we used, which is everything from the anuary 2024 Cardmaking Kit. I did add a few of my own things from my stash. 

Beginning with the pattern papers that have a to different patterns on them side by side fold those in half. Next with the paper behind the one I'm folding below you will fold that vertically. 

Here is the pattern paper folded vertically. 

Next cut this one in half. So you should have two little booklets now. We only use one inside the journal and the other one we will use later. 

I used my distress tool on all the papers to give them all a rough edge and then I inked them with vintage photo & kitsch Flamingo distress inks. 

Next with the pattern paper that has the notebook lines on the back fold this up at 3 inches horizontally. 

Add your adhesive to the left and right side edges as I am doing below and fold up and burnish. Do not add glue to the bottom, as these are pockets.

Next put all your papers togethers on how you would like them to look for your journal. 

Next poke your holes in the crease of all the pages you have in your bundle at the same time.  I poked about 6 holes approximately 1 inch apart. 

Next get your needle and thread and start threading through the holes you just made.

Once your done threading, thread through the middle again and then tie off the thread in a knot. 

Next we score the pockets that come in the card kit. I scored mine at 1/2 inch on the left, right and bottom. After your are done scoring you will cut off the little score lines that intersect, these are on the bottom of each pocket. 

Next fold down the tabs and decorate your pockets. 

Here are a couple of the pockets I decorated using the pattern paper that had 4 cut a parts on the page. I then adhered lace down from my stash on the light green one and the other one I fussy cut the lace border from the cut a part sheet and adhered on the sides. 

The little milk discs I adhered on the circles that were in the kit and I inked with vintage photo. I did use the milk discs sporadically around the inside of the journal pages.

below is a photo of the pocket we created using the pattern paper that had the notebook lines on the backside. I adhered some lace down from my stash. 

Here is a photo showing how I added some of the pretty flowers from the card kit on the little booklet we added to the inside of the journal. I also added a small piece of a white flower border I had in my stash. 

So we have a tall white tag in the card kit and we are gonna use this along with the pretty rose paper I have below. First we measure approximately how much we need to tear away by holding to the tag. I then just started tearing away some of the paper on each side. 

Next I hold up to the tag again to make sure its the right size. I started gently rolling the right side corner of the pattern paper down (as shown below) until I get the curl I wanted. 

Next I glue the roll piece down, so it doesn't become unraveled. Now glue down the pattern paper down to the tag. You can add string or ribbon to the center of the hole if you'd like. 

Here is a photo of the white photo mats that I decorated. For on three tags I inked with vintage photo. The pink rose tag I tore from the 2nd little booklet we do not use in the journal, I inked around it with Kitsch Flamingo. The middle tag is from the scraps we had and I tore this one as well and only glued it down on the left side and bottom so it can be used as a tuck area for other ephemera or photos. The last tag with the small roses is papered with one of the 4 pieces from the cut a part sheet. 

Here is the finished cover of the Junk Journal. I layered the rest of the tickets and ephemera pieces I had from the kit. I used some lace from my stash for the left side. The closure is a pink ribbon wrapped around, that can slide off and on with ease. I also used the rest of the flowers for decorating the front as well one of the milk discs. I placed a fuzzy paperclip on top that is also from my stash. 

Well I hope you like today's project. It really did turn out so pretty. The best part is you can decorate your Beautiful Junk Journal however you'd like.
