DYI Mini Frames for Tres Jolie

Hi Everyone,

It's Debbie here today sharing a great way to create a beautiful home decor using the frames from the 2026 January Mixed Media Kit along with the 2026 January Scrapbook Kit. I have the step by step below and the video tutorial for you with all the details.

To start out I decided to use the stencil butter from the January Mixed Media Kit to place on top of each mini frame. The colors are Hydrangea, Dune and Rose. I also removed the back of each frame before applying the stencil butter.

Next I used a paint brush to glide on the stencil butter. I did one coat let it dry for a bit, it doesn't take long, then came back in to add a second a coat, I did this for each frame.

I have all the details in the video process as well.

After I finished applying the stencil butter to the frames I adhere pattern paper to the backs of each wooden plank. Once you get the wooden planks covered, I mixed a very small dab of stencil butter with water and and very lightly brushed it on the pattern paper. This gives a nice translucent look to the background. I did this for each colored frame to match it's color.

Here is the finished Hydrangea frame. I fussy cut out the hydrangea with the butter from one of the cut apart cards and used the blue butterfly sticker with a foam dot to give a little lift. I folded the leaf over the frame and added a sentiment from the sticker sheet. The sticker sheet and the cut apart cards are fantastic to use for this project as they fit inside the frames perfectly.

Here is the Dune mini frame. I fussy cut out the scissors from a cut apart card and used the yellow roses and butterfly from the sticker sheet. In the background you can see a little flag peeking from behind. I have all the details in the video tutorial.

Below is the pink frame. again I fussy cut out the pink flowers and from one of the cut apart cards. I used the sentiment tab and a small tag. I give all the details in the video on how I fit these pieces together in the video tutorial.

Now we are going to glue these together. I used the Mixed Media Art Medium for Pigments, Metal & Gilding Effects. This is like a sticky glue and works great. It was from the 2025 February Medix Media Kit (available). I did a placement and used a pencil to mark a light line so I knew where to place the glue down and the frames.

Here are the frames all placed and adhered together.
