Mixed Media Pretty Unicorns for Tres Jolie

Hi Crafty Friends,

It's Debbie here today sharing two different ways you can decorate your wooden Unicorn from the April 2025 Mixed Media Kit. I did one that is more like a steampunk using the Mechanical Grungy Gears from the Scrapbook Kit and then I did a pretty Gold Unicorn using all the mixed media items from the Mixed Media Kit. April 2025 Mixed Media Kit

Unicorn 1

To start off I covered the entire Unicorn with the Distress Grit Paste.

The next step I went and mixed the Antique Gold Powder with a little bit of water and dabbed my brush over the Grit Paste.

After applying the Antique Gold I mixed the Finnabair Jewel Effect Paste, two little squirts of the wild orchid Enamel Accents and the Antique Gold Powder all together and applied the mixture over the Unicorn tail, hooves and horn. I used my heat gun to dry this a little bit, then went back over it with with a little bit of the Enamel Accents. I adhered down the wings.

To finish off the Unicorn I added some little roses from my stash to create a flowered neck ring. I used a little a bit of the Enamel Accents along the Unicorn mane.

I also used Finnabair's Sparks that is an acrylic paint. (Sparks was part of a March Mixed Media Kit)

Unicorn 2

For Unicorn #2 I used the Versa Color Umber and inked it all over the Unicorn

Next I used Clear embossing powder and covered the entire Unicorn. I did this because the ink is a pigment ink and would/might rub off later and embossing prevents that from happening.

After heat embossing, I used Gold Gilding Flakes from my stash to cover the horn. If you received the February 2025 Kit you can use then Rose Gold Gilding Flakes.

Next I took the Grit Paste and spread it over the tail, hooves and the mane.

For the next step take the Crystal Effect Paste mix with the Antique Gold Powder and spread across the Unicorn mane, tail and hooves.

Next using 3D Gloss Gel adhere the wings and the Grungy Gears on the Unicorn. The 3D Gloss Gel is like a adhesive and was in the Jan.2025 Mixed Media Kit. The Grungy Gears come in this months April 2025 Scrapbook Kit.

After using the glue, it will dry clear.

Here are this finished Unicorns.
