Hope you're having a great week. We are coming to the end of July, which means I am wrapping up my projects using the July Scrapbooking Kit for Tres Jolie. I did an extra project using some scraps left over from other projects.
The project for today is a small pocket notebook that you can have at your desk, counter, purse or in your pocket for jotting down those quick notes or lists. This was such a quick and easy project. Hope you get to create one. I also have a short video tutorial here for you to view or reference back to at your convenience.
Let's get started.
To begin you will cut a piece of cardstock at 7 1/2 x 5 ;
After you are done scoring you will need to roll the spine so all the score lines are creased.
Next we are going to create the holes in the spine. So you will find the middle score line, which is the 3 3/4 inch score line.
Once you find that middle score line mark it with a pencil with little straight lines as I did like the photo below, if your using black cardstock. Next use your ruler to mark dots at 3/4, 2, 3 3/4, 4 1/4 inches.
Now where you marked the dots that is where you will make your holes in the spine. After you poke your holes on your cardstock fold the the spine. Cut some notebook paper @ 6 3/4 x 4 3/4 inches and fold some of the sheets in half.
Line the spine up next to the fold of notebook paper and mark your notebook paper so you know where to poke your holes. Poke holes in the notebook sheets and set aside.
Cover your notebook with your pattern paper on the outside & inside. After I covered my notebook I used the Botanical Stains from the July mixed media kit to create some color on my notebook by spraying the marigold on and them adding a few droplets around the front and back cover.
Next I added some of the rub-on's on the front and back cover. I then went over the front and back with Distress Oxide Vintage Photo ink to give a worn look.
Now let's put our pocket book together. So you will need a needle and thread or I used a couple of pieces of black twine. I started sewing with poking my needle through the middle hole of the paper first and brought up the book putting the needle through the spine. Once I got the first hole sewn I then just went to the bottom hole and back up into the paper and kept sewing in and out til I ended up back inside the booklet.

Once I was inside the booklet I tied a knot and cut off the excess twine.
Here is our small vintage pocket notebook. I think it looks so cool.
